When the designs are approved, they are translated into technical specifications and then developer tasks. 

When development is complete, we start with unit testing and then regression testing on the dev instance.

When all tests cases have passed, the staging instance is updated with the new codebase and goes through the user acceptance testing phase. 

When approved, we schedule a release based on minimal end user impact. In the release the production instance is updated with the new codebase.
